Elephant Procession Necklace

Elephant Procession Necklace

$180.00

In India the elephant is a sacred animal and a symbol of royalty. Maharajas used to ride on elephants during processions and in war. This oval thewa pendant depicts a procession with the ruler seated on the elephant while holding his noble sword, and his attendant straddling the animal’s neck while holding a flag. The thewa piece is made by hand of 22k gold fused to yellow glass and set in a sterling silver pendant with a scalloped outline that recalls Indian architecture. The pendant hangs from a sterling silver snake chain with lobster clasp closure.
